Resolution (for NetworkManager):

  - add following to the VPN connection file (/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/XXX.nmconnection)\\ <code>data-ciphers=AES-256-CBC</code>
  - reload the connection\\ <code>sudo nmcli connection reload</code>
